Whilst the olive has to be the defining tree of Paxos, the cypress, pencil thin or wide and spreading lends texture and variety to the landscape, and there is a magnificent example beside this lovely villa framing the view across to the distant hills of the mainland.
The sea-facing terrace with its private swimming pool and shaded barbecue area combined with the setting is simply a magnificent extra outside room to a two-bedroomed villa that is supremely comfortable and well-equipped.
Although secluded, the house is by no means isolated with three beautiful beaches just a few minutes’ drive away. Gaios the island capital with its colourful bustling waterfront and narrow alleyways, is only a little further. Supper on a taverna terrace high above the western cliffs watching the sun set into the Adriatic? Fresh fish for the barbecue? A boat trip to Paxos’s tiny neighbour, Antipaxos to snorkel in crystal clear waters? Or perhaps a quiet stroll along old paths to discover deserted villages and ancient hill-top churches? One of the joys of such a small but varied island as Paxos is that exploring is so easy, no long tedious journeys here!
Of course the alternative of relaxing at home by the pool on a sun lounger or absorbing the view from the comfort of an armchair on the shady patio is equally enticing.
For a memorable Paxiot holiday with family or friends, the Villa Faye is an excellent choice.
