Porto Santa Maria, Funchal

The adults only (minimum age 16 years) Porto Santa Maria is one of our Madeira hotels located in the heart of the ‘old town’ of Funchal but right on the seafront with a new man-made beach with sea access in front. Ideal for those who want to be able to walk to the shops, museums and restaurants in town, but still retaining the atmosphere of a water’s edge hotel.

ROOMS

Accommodation is made up of twin rooms which have a sitting area and a kitchenette area comprising: two ring hob, fridge and tea & coffee making facilities or larger Junior Suites with either seaview or side seaview, have a sitting room as well as a kitchenette. Each room is air-conditioned and also has a balcony, twin beds, cable LCD TV, iPod dock, safe (small charge) and a hairdryer. Twin rooms have either garden views or seaviews.

LIVING

The Porto Santa Maria has a restaurant that serves buffet breakfast, lunch (served as a mini buffet or light snacks) and half board dinner, buffet six times a week and table d’hôte once a week. Why not upgrade to the half board plus which includes a small bottle of house wine, beer, water or soft drink per person per meal, from £186 per person per week (during winter only). Lighter lunches are readily available from the poolside snack bar or the terrace. The attractive Captains Bar is ideal before or after dinner and has live music every night.

The lounge and library add to guest enjoyment, as does the heated freshwater pool and outdoor Jacuzzi on the panoramic rooftop terrace with lovely views of the sea, Funchal harbour and the historic old town. The indoor heated pool is a great place to relax after a sauna (small charge) or Jacuzzi. A beautiful terrace for relaxing has fantastic views of Funchal Harbour. There is also a gym and two treatment rooms for massage which complete the facilities of this very charming hotel.

LOCATION

On the seafront in the old part of Funchal, the many charms of the capital are on the doorstep.  Getting around the island by bus or taxi is easy from here too.
